Strong commitments of government officials to ban fossil fuels as early as 2030, means only one thing: the epoch of raucous engines is coming to an end. However, we would like to calm all of the petrol heads and people with range anxiety, plugin hybrids are here to stay for a couple more decades. Along with them we will still keep the convenience of trips with unlimited ranges and familiarly rumbling.
Today we will review the newest PHEV cars of 2022. But before we continue, don’t forget to check out other #AutomotiveTerritory videos on the topic:

00:45 Bentley Flying Spur Hybrid
After the introduction of a plug-in version of the Bentayga SUV, Bentley’s journey to electrification continues with the flagship Flying Spur sedan. The system relies on a 2.9-liter turbo V6, tweaked to lower fuel consumption, a 136-horsepower electric motor, and of course, a 14.1kWh battery.
01:51 Karma Automotive GS-6
Through the change of ownership, multiple revisions and updates, the Karma GS6 is finally delivered in a package that possesses appropriate pricing and competitive specifications.
03:04 Citroen C5 X
After the discontinuation of the C5 sedan in 2017, the French brand existed without a flagship model in its lineup. The situation is about to be rectified with the arrival of the newly developed 2022 Citroen C5 X, that crosses a large sedan with a wagon and an SUV.
04:14 Ferrari GTB 296
The SF90 Stradale has already established the trend, that going forward plugin hybrid Ferraris will be the most powerful prancing horses in the lineup. The debuting PHEV was equipped with a V8 engine and three electric motors at heart, but the new Ferrari GTB 296 will be using a V6 instead.
05:24 Peugeot 308
Advertised as the new face of the Peugeot brand, the 3rd generation 308 is offered in hatchback and wagon body styles, both with two plug-in modifications, delivering 180 and 225 horses of output.
06:33 Mercedes Benz S 580e
Already on sale across Europe, 2022 Mercedes Benz S 580e boasts electric range rarely seen in the PHEV segment. Its 28-kWh battery can juice a single electric motor for more than 60 miles of travel.
07:39 Renault Megane Hatch & Wagon
The French brand continues to expand its electrified range in Europe, so for the 2022 model year, both wagon and hatchback variants of the Renault Megane are available with a plug-in hybrid drivetrain.
08:37 DS 4
The first generation DS 4 could hardly be called a premium hatchback and was not able to pose competition to Germans dominating the segment. However, with the revised model, DS seems to have found a recipe for success, combining striking exterior design, a very extravagant interior and advanced technologies.
09:40 Kia Ceed & Ceed SW PHEV
The new Ceed becomes a purely European bound model. It will be manufactured in and for the Old world, which inevitably means that it needs a plugin hybrid powertrain.
10:45 Opel Astra
Though Opel’s compact car was facelifted just 2 years ago, PSA decided that it is time for the Astra to abandon GM-sourced underpinnings in favor of the Efficient Modular Platform 2. As a result, the 2022 Opel Astra hatchback grows in wheelbase length by 2.2 inches to 105.3, offers 2 PHEV modifications, and gets McPherson strut suspension at the front and a torsion bar at the rear.
